I have enjoyed a wide variety of roles and responsibilities in my 29 year 3M career, including Quality Assurance,  Process Development, Manufacturing Engineering, Product Development, Statistical Consultant, Supplier Management, Technical Supervisor, Technical Project Manager, Division Quality Specialist, Division Quality Manager for two different business units (Healthcare and Consumer & Office markets), Six Sigma Operations Deployment manager, two separate stints in the Corporate Quality staff organization, and currently as the global Quality and international Lean Six Sigma Deployment Manager.

Currently, I am leading the implementation of 3M Entitlement Quality - a fusion of ISO quality management systems, "Process & Product Understanding" (PPU), DFSS, Commercialization, Six Sigma DMAIC, and Lean Enterprise throughout 3M.  I am experienced in all major problem solving and continuous improvement methodologies and have trained process/ product/ quality engineers, quality managers, plant managers, business unit operating committees, Six Sigma GBs, BBs and MBBs.

I have been awarded two 3M Golden Step awards for my significant contributions on two highly successful new product launches, received numerous corporate awards for team participation, several Corporate Quality Individual awards, and in 2005 the 3M Quality Career award (Lewis W. Lehr Award) for leadership in continual improvement methodologies and significant contributions towards business performance excellence.

My interests have evolved from that of specialist and individual contributor to teacher / coach / consultant and mentor in Statistical Thinking and enterprise-wide continual quality improvement for business results and customer satisfaction.  I am an advocate, evangelist, and champion for practical leadership, personal accountability, courageous decision making, winning attitude and customer-first behavior.

I am active in the American Society of Quality (ASQ) - at the National level (William G. Hunter Award Committee Chair), in the Statistics Division (Past Chair), and in the local MN section (Director). I am also a member of Goal/QPC, and a member of the MN Council for Quality's Process Improvement Network (PIN) planning committee. I served two separate terms as Chair of the ASQ Statistics Division, and in November 2003 was elected to 'Fellow' in ASQ. Most recently, I have achieved Baldrige Examiner certification for the MN State Quality Award.
